How is your week coming along ?
I can finally show you the design I will be teaching at the Nordic Needle Stitcher’s Retreat next year.
It is ‘Swayin’ in the Breeze’ a Stump work Dragonfly enjoying an afternoon breeze on a Cattail. This design was inspired by a Spring afternoon in my back yard pond. It was about as lazy a day as this design in reflecting. It was actually an orange Dragonfly, but ( don’t laugh ) my son does not like the orange Dragonflies. I am not sure why… so for him, I stitched this one in green. I like the orange… so I am working on another little design with an orange Dragonfly, mainly to take to class to show the two colors – students will have a choice of green or orange. As I mentioned, this design was inspired from a scene in my back yard… yes those are some weeds mixed in with flowers at the edge of the pond with it’s shimmery water. The Dragonfly does have a tiny amount of Turkey work for the thorax; the abdoman and tail are Swarovski crystals and other beads, as well as the head and eyes. This design will be available in my e-store after the retreat in April.
Birthday Bouquet #2105 is now back in stock. This design was inspired from a birthday card I received from some very special people. It was featured in Stitchery magazine in January 1998 and still remains one of my most popular designs.
Camellia Delight #2163 also featured in a magazine ~ Stitcher’s World magazine in March 2000.
Camellia Delight is another very popular Threads in Bloom design, using only two stitches; stem and bullion. Fresh water pearls included in the design package make lovely little buds.
Both of these designs have sold in the hundreds; they have been reprinted many times.
In the works ~ two ( maybe 3 ) Winter season bookmark / card designs. There will be a Poinsettia and a Holly, both reminding us of the Winter season. If there is a third one, it will probably be a candle. I haven’t had a chance to design that one yet. These small motifs are so quick to stitch I am hoping to have them completed over the week end. (The Poinsettia is almost finished from stitching last night ) I went to computer to find some nice Winter season sayings – hoping to find a couple… ha.. I found a couple dozen I like. Now, I have to decide which to use. I think I will print out the list to hand out at coffee gathering on Saturday AM to see which gets the most votes – that sounds like a good plan.
One of my best friends, who lives in Scotland just sent me a really cute Cross Stitch chart – my kind of Cross Stitch…. It is a Koi fish, knowing I have Koi. It isn’t a ‘use this color # and that color #’ You use just one shaded DMC orange but instead of the usual, you stitch it in blotches or patches, so it has that Koi blotchy look. I can hardly wait to get started on this one. It is only about 3″ x 4″ and with no counting it should stitch up really quick. I will have to do 2-3 of them for friends that have Koi. This size will fit perfect in the ‘gift’ cards. Find the ‘gift’ cards in the accessory / necessary dept. A package of 5 is only $4.00
This is a Tiger Eye Maple. It is a tree, but we put it in a big big pot next to the Koi pond to keep it small. We just got it this year. It has had just 5-6 flowers. Aren’t they beautiful. I am looking forward to it in a year or two when it gets lots of these unique flowers blooming at the same time I am trying to figure out to embroidery it.

The end of Summer is almost here with the lovely colors of Fall just around the corner. Fall is my favorite time of year.
It was brought to my attention a few days ago that there was NOT a pay option to send a check or money order. There should be – there use to be. I am having my webhost research it for me. He said with last updated version, that may have been taken out ( updates do not always move forward – is my opinion… sometimes you loose some of the good stuff ). So, going forward with the idea ( until I find out otherwise ) I am going to assume paying by check is not one of PayPals options ( they want you to use your card – that is how they make their money) so I can understand they don’t want you to have that option…. BUT, I do want you to have the choice of using PayPal credit/debit payment or by sending a check.
This is what we will do ~ If your preference is to pay by check: Place your items in your shopping basket, check out, GO AHEAD AND CLICK ‘PURCHASE‘ now it is going to ask for your information… but, under where it says “Don’t have a PayPal Account” in blue there is an option to cancel and return to Threads in Bloom, click that. It will send me a notice of your incomplete order – I will have your order and you can pop a check in the mail. You can drop me a note if you like, to let me know you have ordered and are sending a check. I will also watch the ‘incomplete orders’ to ask if you wanted to pay by check or if there other issues. This isn’t anymore buttons to push than if there was an actual manuel pay option.
If you have any questions or ever need any assistance with an order, please drop me a note ~ I am here to assist you.
The two reprint designs should be in this week – I will send a note when they arrive.
Thank you for your business and support – it is appreciated. Have a wonderful week

Good evening ~
I do hope this finds everyone well and having an enjoyable almost Summer.
Several have ask for a reprint of Mendocino Butterfly & Roses #2203.
It is now back in stock. Besides the EdMar rayon thread, it does use a cotton floss DMC and 2 of DMC’s Light Effects floss which may be a little more difficult to find than the cotton floss. I am considering of having an option to purchase just the design package or to include the 3 skeins of DMC floss; another thought is to have a complete package of thread: DMC and EdMar. I haven’t figured the cost of adding these options. I would like your input if you would like either or both of the package options.
I just returned from a short get-a-way to Monterey, CA about 2 hours from me. It was wonderful just sitting by the ocean watching and listening to those waves crashing in. I saw the most amazing thing ( at least I had never seen it before ) PINK WAVES – yes, this pink…crashing on the rocks. NO, I had not anything to drink, did not have on rose colored glasses. I even took off my glasses to make sure I wasn’t imagining it. I didn’t take a picture – I was afraid if I moved it would go away. My friend, Kathy, sitting right next to me did not see it. It had to be the perfect reflection of the sun and water – what a thing to see – will probably never see it again.
Think I will go stitch awhile. I am working on the design I will be teaching at the Nordic Needle Stitcher’s Retreat for 2013. I will take a picture of some of the elements I am experimenting with; I am having fun with this one.
I am looking forward to hearing from you, for your thoughts on thread options or not with Mendocino Butterfly & Roses leave a comment here or email me [email protected]

Good evening ~
A short little blog to show you this VERY DIFFERENT dye lot of Lola #39.
Normally #39 is brown, yellow and orange – but look at this one, no orange at all. There is already 2 missing from the box – guess where they are.. At the moment I am not sure where I am going to use it – maybe a basket or for some wheat ( here comes a new design). If you like this, get some now, who knows what the next dye lot will be – hand dyed threads can vary with each dye lot. Just wanted to show you.. I like it, and because it is so different.
One other thing ~ Mendocino Butterfly & Rose #2203 is showing out of stock in the e-store. A few people have mentioned they would like to see it available again. You ask and I will deliver. It is being reprinted again. I will drop a note when it is back from screen printing.
If there are other ‘out of stock’ or ‘ sold out’ designs, drop me a note. This helps me decide what does or does not need to be reprinted.

A couple updates: You will notice a few changes in the E-store. There is now a bright green shopping basket in the upper right corner, the Welcome page no longer has the newest items automatically moving across the screen ( which I did like ). There are now little dots to click for pages of the newest items. Rather than the most recent blogs/ newletters showing at the bottom of the page, you can simply click on the ‘BLOG’ at the top of the menu bar. The departments are a little easier to navigate and the pictures of items seem a little larger than previously. I think you will like the changes.
And, I have finally given into FACEBOOK. My web host has been encouraging me to do this, so I could send out quick little notices of news or thoughts. I think you will enjoy and appreciate the one last Saturday about having coffee with friends. If you have FACEBOOK or when you do get it, go to www.ThreadsinBloom.com on the lower right side, you will see the ‘F’ for facebook to click ‘like’. I look forward to hearing your comments to Threads in Bloom and your return comments.
Other than that I am getting ready to leave for Fargo, ND to the Nordic Needle 10th anniversary Stitchers Retreat. I will be teaching a class using the book marks; something small we can finish in class. I am working on another very easy Wisteria Freebie design for the book marks, mini cards and tiny card that I just added to the E-store. The new free design will be added as soon as possible. It will take me longer to get the pattern and instruction page finished then it did to stitch the motif.
The Pink Dogwood has nothing to do with stitching, I just think it is a really pretty flower. I wish the tree was in my yard, it isn’t. It is in the front yard of a house down the street – at least I get to enjoy it twice a day, as I go to work and come home. Actually it does have something to do with stitching. I have two designs that I will be adding to the e-store when I return from Fargo. My designs are stitched in the vanilla colors.
I will look forward to having you become part of my Facebook. I will be sending some comments and pictures from Fargo.
