Threads in Bloom ~ update

January 5, 2019 by Sharon 2 Comments

Happy New Year to you ~ hope your year is starting out just the way you want it. Since there are so many changes going on with Threads in Bloom, I want to bring you up to date.

EdMar thread is no longer available from Threads in Bloom. It is being boxed up to get ready to send to the new owner of the thread. I will be announcing who that is as soon as all is finalized and she is ready to sell the thread to you.

You may find several things are no out of stock ~ I will keep these items updated as my inventory sells. There are still plenty of needles, a few thread organizers, hoops, a few yards of fabric.

Also, just to clarify ~ Threads in Bloom is not going out of business !! I will remain in business at least until the end of June, after the BDEIG Seminar. I am NOT selling the Threads in Bloom name ~ who knows I may want to use it in a different capacity at some time in the future. I may want to do other designs or use it for my sewing crafts.

In the next few days I will be putting many of the Threads in Bloom designs on sale and lowering the price of the few remaining EdMar designs that are still available.

And lastly ~ probably the most important is to Thank ALL of you for your support of Threads in Bloom over the more than 33 years. I have made many lasting friendships and will remain friends. Just because I will no longer be selling stitching supplies, I will be here and on Face Book. The ONLY reason I have made this decision is because, simply… I want more time to ‘play’… sewing, stitching, reading… With that said, I certainly would not want to give up any of the last 33 + years of Threads in Bloom. I just want to go into another chapter of my life.

To be continued ~ talk to you soon with sales and more updates. Stitching keeps our souls content ~~ Sharon Shetley ~~ Threads in Bloom www.threadsinbloom.com [email protected] – drop me a note any time – I love to chat with you.

Threads in Bloom ~ Lola sale and found design

October 12, 2018 by Sharon 1 Comment

Hello ~  Fall is here for us in California.  I had some pretty pictures of sprinkling of snow from a friend in MI, so pretty.

Cherry Blossom Time

Clearing off a shelve the other day (to make room for other things) were several of my sample models

Enchanted Garden

of old designs,I ran across a couple I had forgotten all about.   Cherry Blossom Time and Enchanted Garden.  Enchanted Garden had been featured in a magazine several years ago..   I will be finding the folders with all the information and instructions to have Cherry Blossom Time reprinted, if I do not have any left in the drawer of transfers ( another drawer to go through)   Another small design I found was Serenity.  I did find 5 transfers that I will add the design available in the Threads in Bloom  e-store.  This fits perfectly into one of                                                       the  tri-fold ‘gift cards.

Serenity

I found a couple other things that I will  chat about next time.       I will post these when they are available, also on FB.   If you are not on my FB, be sure to venture over there and like.      Often I will do an update there or little comments – it is a good place to join in the conversation too.           NOW ~    what you really want to hear about.  from October 12th until November 15th   LOLA will be on sale for just $1.60 per skein.   Normal suggested price is $1.90,  my regular price is $1.85…  -.25ç  per skein =  only $1.60  subject to what is in stock  – order soon to get your 1st choice of colors.  Right now, most colors are in stock.  You may want to give a stitching friend a Threads in Bloom design and the thread needed for that design as a nice gift to stitch – or stitch yourself for a gift.   Good time to stock up on your supply of Lola.         https://threadsinbloom.com/product-category/thread/

I am almost finished with a Needle book, adding a beaded border around the edge.  I got this really cute little free design from the BDEIG website.  There are several small designs / motifs in Threads in Bloom store as well        https://threadsinbloom.com/product-category/designs/threads-in-bloom-designs-designs/free-designs/      I will post it on FB when completed.

Besides my stitching I am still enjoying fabric crafts.  I have been making several gift size fabric bags to fill with goodies to donate and give as gifts or sell alone.   Also, have made several Market size bags..this is my favorite of late:       This Giraffe Tote.   In fact I have made two of these with an order for one with Bald Eagles.  There is some nice fabric choices with Bald Eagles, which I have ordered.  I will show you that bag

Marty’s cross body bag

with finished ( on FB).  From Marty Campbell, one of our BE stitching friends, also bag designer, I got ‘my cross body bag’ pattern (it is available on Craftsy.com     It was easy and she did some awesome instructions – the pattern is free     https://www.craftsy.com/sewing/patterns/my-on-the-go-crossbody-bag/632448.    I am going to make a couple more for my 2 Great-nieces for Christmas; one will be green the other blue.

So, retirement from outside the home work has kept me busy and having a lot of fun.  And when I was going to retire from my public work at AllCare, they were saying ‘what will you do’

Thank you for your time not only for what is going on with Threads in Bloom, but with my personal life’s pleasures too.   Don’t forget to get your Lola thread ordered for only $1.65 per skein.

Threads in Bloom ~ what is happening

December 5, 2011 by Sharon Leave a Comment

Happy Winter Holidays or for some of you Happy Summer Holidays ~

Todays news ~ 6 new EdMar designs, 40% off a couple Threads in Bloom designs and  introducing the first 2 in my Bookmark series.

Iris

Picot Daisy

There is still time to make some easy and quick to stitch gifts ~ Introducing the first 2 in a series of my Book Mark designs. Stitching time is about one hour and assemble into the book mark in an additional 5-10 minutes with a little double sided tape and dab of glue.  The package contains the 2 design patterns and instructions, two 6″ X 6″ pieces of fabric to trace the designs onto, two heavy card stock folded book marks  ( folded allows the back of stitching to be covered for a nice finish).  The Book marks have a proverb:  “Friends are the flowers in the garden of life” and two clear cellophane  envelopes for gift giving.  Each designs only a few strands of  EdMar rayon thread – you can use those extra strands from previous projects.  Card stock will vary from white, ivory or a whisper periwinkle. Find them in the Threads in Bloom design department. Below shows the completed Book marks, plus 2 future designs.

showing completed book mark

Cornflower #1701

The six new EdMar designs are taken from the large Primavera design.  EdMar has taken sections Primavera to make separate designs of each flower.

Chinese Poppy 1706

Camelias #1702

They range from 1.75 X 4″  to  3 x 4.5″  I like the smaller individual designs.

Chinese Columbine #1703

For me it makes learning her new techniques and enjoying each one in a more stitchable time frame.  You will find all six new designs in the EdMar design department

Ginger #1704

Grevillea 1705

Mary's St. John's Wort Bouquet #2118

Its-a-Belle # 2216

Mary’s St John’s Wort Bouquet

Reg. $17.00         Sale $10.20

Its-a-Belle

Reg. $16.00        Sale  $ 9.60

Find these in the Threads in Bloom design depart.

Somehow I duplicated 3 books  ( I really need to have an inventory of my needlework library )  Before I put them on Ebay, I want to offer them to you.          Since I only have one of each, please drop me an email that you are ordering the book, to make sure it is still available, before you push that ‘order’ button.   If there is an over sale, I can credit you account.     One, a really gorgeous  book ‘GOLDWORK – Techniques, projects and pure inspiration, by Hazel Everett.   I found techniques I can adapt to Brazilian Embroidery.  It is truly a book of inspiration.  I am wowed by some of these flowers that would be beautiful in beads.  The cover project looks like a piece of jewelry, the inside illustrations are just as stunning.  144 pages, soft cover.         The next is  Redouté’s Finest Flowers in Embroidery ~ by Trish Burr.  She is an expert  Needle Painting artist form Australia.  If you are not familiar with Needle painting, it is satin stitches, shading the colors look as if it is painted.  Although, I do not do Needle Painting  ( another one of those embroidery techniques I want to learn ), the book is wonderful for learning Satin stitching, how to create curves, do tapering; we all do Satin stitch – this is a good book to add to your needle art library – if only to look at for the stitching beauty.  Soft cover – 95 pages.

Redouté's Finest Flowers in Embroidery ~ by Trish Burr

Needle Painting Embroidery Fresh ideas for Beginners ~ by Trish Burr

GOLDWORK book

And the third is Needle Painting Embroidery – Fresh Ideas for Beginners, also by Trish Burr

It has detailed instructions from the beginning of supplies and materials, on shaping and direction of stitches, several projects are included in the book, with ‘what to do with the completed stitching’ showing a scissor case, scissor fob, pincushion and pinwheel.  Also soft cover, 120 pages

I am offering each at 25% off – they are all new, and found in the  book department at ThreadsinBloom.com

Now I am off to make some pretty coral Pepper Jelly to go with my jelly assortment for Christmas gifts.  The pretty coral color comes from Cranberry juice. This is the first time I made this kind – hope it turns out good.  I like Pepper Jelly over cream cheese, served with assorted crackers.   This year in my assortment is  Santa Rosa Plum and Blueberry. The Blueberry didn’t set as it should, so I labeled it syrup – great over ice cream or pancakes.   I didn’t make any pomegranate this year – I still have a few jars left from 2010 crop.  The mint in our front yard is perfect right now for another batch of Mint Jelly, of course lovely with lamb.  I still have some tea towels to finish to tuck in the Christmas packages and make a few more of those bookmarks to give to friends who enjoy reading – or mark pages in the needle art books.  Sometimes I go to the used book store and find some really fun books, adding the Brazilian Embroidery book mark for a complete gift.

I have been on vacation this past week – it is back to work tomorrow.  I do customer service for an insurance company.  Threads in Bloom is my evening and week end enjoyment.  I did get a lot done this week, but honestly could have another week to finish up; oh well, it will be there to keep me from ever having to look for something to do.  Life is never boring.

I was watching ( while stitching)  the old Jimmy Stewart movie last night, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’.  What a great movie, even if I have seen it numerous times.  At the end, he is given a book with a note  “No man is a failure who has friends”.  How true that is.

Here is my email to contact me about the books or anything else you need:      [email protected]     and of course the website is ThreadsinBloom.com

Thank you for your time, I enjoy talking to you.       Have a Wonderful Winter or Summer Holiday – where ever you may be.  Sharon  ~  Threads in Bloom ~ Modesto, CA USA   thrdsnbloom.comcast.net  ~  ThreadsinBloom.com
