Spring is just around the corner. It was a rough winter for so many, I think we are all looking forward to Spring. We even hit 80º yesterday. I am in the middle of the Central Valley in California were fruit and nut trees are grown in abundance, they are all in bloom and flowers are popping up in yards, birds are singing and the sky is an incredible blue. It is lovely, unless you have allergies…..
Another (actually 2 ) of my designs will be taught at the BDEIG (Brazilian Dimensional Embroidery International Guild) Seminar in June ~ April Showers Bring May Flowers (this year it was February and March). I can hardly wait to release this design to the public in June. It was a lot of fun to stitch and add some fun special sequins as rain drops. Here is a peek.
OK, what you really want to know – the SALE ****** Richard Hemming #3 Darners.
Reg. $2.60 / Sale $2.00 http://threadsinbloom.com/product/richard-hemming-3-darners/
Nova thread ~ It has been awhile since we have had a thread sale. With Spring I think of Iris blooming and the Peach Blossoms. For these two flowers we usually use Nova ~ Although Nova is used for many other flowers, stems, leaves, borders, etc. Plus the case of Nova thread is so full I can hardly lift it (maybe I am getting weaker with age) and some won’t even fit in the case. The sale will be limited to stock on hand. If you order something that is out of stock, I will let you know so you can choose a different color. SALE PRICE IS $1.30….
Regular Price is $1.85, so this is a good time to stock up and build your stash. Sale through end of April, 2017 http://threadsinbloom.com/product/nova-thread-sale/
My son belongs to a Small Caged Bird Club ( canaries, parakeets, finches…) At their shows (2-3 a yr) they have a raffle. I could not believe the used stuff that was on the table..wallets, vases, lots of stuff that you would see at a garage sale or going to the Goodwill….There wasn’t anything new… So being me (probably like you), always looking for a reason to stitch and give away to make room for more stitching.. I volunteered to make several things for the next couple of shows later this year. I am doing some tea towels with flowers and of course birds on them, some terry hand towels with Huck embroidery, some book marks (those are really quick to stitch on aida with Huck weaving) and maybe cards. I hope all this helps to have more raffle ticket buyers. I am enjoying the process and am always happy to donate.
Besides a couple major projects, I am working on a new design. It will be a Sampler with lots of fun and pretty flowers. I plan on bringing in some speciality threads that will be included in the design package. Let’s wait to see what the finished piece is like, how different it is from original plans ~ things always change.
Of course I can’t leave with a picture of my hens. We are still getting 5-7 eggs a day. I am not sure if friends and neighbors are happy to see me or run the other way when I have cartons of eggs in hand. Karl was pulling out some of the grass they like to eat to make the space for the garden, he had a BIG bucket of grass, they usually just get a couple of handfuls. This is why I don’t get as much done everyday as I should…. I go out to see them 3-4 times a day.
