How is your week coming along ?
I can finally show you the design I will be teaching at the Nordic Needle Stitcher’s Retreat next year.
It is ‘Swayin’ in the Breeze’ a Stump work Dragonfly enjoying an afternoon breeze on a Cattail. This design was inspired by a Spring afternoon in my back yard pond. It was about as lazy a day as this design in reflecting. It was actually an orange Dragonfly, but ( don’t laugh ) my son does not like the orange Dragonflies. I am not sure why… so for him, I stitched this one in green. I like the orange… so I am working on another little design with an orange Dragonfly, mainly to take to class to show the two colors – students will have a choice of green or orange. As I mentioned, this design was inspired from a scene in my back yard… yes those are some weeds mixed in with flowers at the edge of the pond with it’s shimmery water. The Dragonfly does have a tiny amount of Turkey work for the thorax; the abdoman and tail are Swarovski crystals and other beads, as well as the head and eyes. This design will be available in my e-store after the retreat in April.
Birthday Bouquet #2105 is now back in stock. This design was inspired from a birthday card I received from some very special people. It was featured in Stitchery magazine in January 1998 and still remains one of my most popular designs.
Camellia Delight #2163 also featured in a magazine ~ Stitcher’s World magazine in March 2000.
Camellia Delight is another very popular Threads in Bloom design, using only two stitches; stem and bullion. Fresh water pearls included in the design package make lovely little buds.
Both of these designs have sold in the hundreds; they have been reprinted many times.
In the works ~ two ( maybe 3 ) Winter season bookmark / card designs. There will be a Poinsettia and a Holly, both reminding us of the Winter season. If there is a third one, it will probably be a candle. I haven’t had a chance to design that one yet. These small motifs are so quick to stitch I am hoping to have them completed over the week end. (The Poinsettia is almost finished from stitching last night ) I went to computer to find some nice Winter season sayings – hoping to find a couple… ha.. I found a couple dozen I like. Now, I have to decide which to use. I think I will print out the list to hand out at coffee gathering on Saturday AM to see which gets the most votes – that sounds like a good plan.
One of my best friends, who lives in Scotland just sent me a really cute Cross Stitch chart – my kind of Cross Stitch…. It is a Koi fish, knowing I have Koi. It isn’t a ‘use this color # and that color #’ You use just one shaded DMC orange but instead of the usual, you stitch it in blotches or patches, so it has that Koi blotchy look. I can hardly wait to get started on this one. It is only about 3″ x 4″ and with no counting it should stitch up really quick. I will have to do 2-3 of them for friends that have Koi. This size will fit perfect in the ‘gift’ cards. Find the ‘gift’ cards in the accessory / necessary dept. A package of 5 is only $4.00
This is a Tiger Eye Maple. It is a tree, but we put it in a big big pot next to the Koi pond to keep it small. We just got it this year. It has had just 5-6 flowers. Aren’t they beautiful. I am looking forward to it in a year or two when it gets lots of these unique flowers blooming at the same time I am trying to figure out to embroidery it.
Thank you for your time. Stitching keeps our souls content
